Getting to UniNE The town of Neuchâtel is nestled between the shores of Switzerland's largest lake (at an altitude of 435 m) and the mountains (La Chaux-de-Fonds : 1000m). Its climate is mild, with temperatures averaging between 25° C and 30° in summer and between 5°C et -5°C in winter. Neuchâtel is a small, friendly town with a population of 32,000, offering an excellent standard of living. It has a number of educational establishments, and a large student population. Neuchâtel is a 40-minute train journey from Bern and Lausanne and just over an hour from Geneva, an hour and a half from Zurich, 4 hours from Paris and 6 hours from Brussels.
The University is in the city itself, and is easily accessible by public transport from the center. To get there from the train station: - take the Fun'ambule (line 110), direction "Neuchâtel-Université (FUNI)", departure every 5 minutes. - walk down the ‘Ruelle Vaucher’, about 5 minutes by foot. To get there from the city center (departure every 10 minutes from "Place Pury"): - take bus line 101, direction "Marin Epagnier" and get off at "Neuchâtel, Université".
